Today Canonical has announced the release of Ubuntu 23.04, codenamed “Lunar Lobster”. This short-term release of Ubuntu Desktop offers nine months of support, including bug fixes and critical app updates.
Ubuntu 23.04 presents some enhancements such as a new installer that scales up desktop deployments, expanded login management with Azure Active Directory, improved workflows for cross-platform development, more controls for apps and snaps, and a leveling up of the Ubuntu gaming experience.
In its release on ubuntu.com, Mark Shuttleworth, CEO of Canonical, stated that the significant Ubuntu release showcases their progress in elevating the standard for enterprise developer desktops, owing to their best-in-class Linux integration with Active Directory Domain Services and now Azure Active Directory. He also added that their expanded investment in Ubuntu gaming ensures users’ downtime is equally satisfying.
